Many people look for a cheaper Pruvit alternative, as let’s face it, Pruvit is more expensive than other exogenous ketone supplements. In this post, I’ve compared Real Ketones vs Pruvit, for quality, taste and price.

Let’s jump right in and compare these two ketone supplement drinks head to head.

Real Ketones Prime D+ vs Pruvit Keto OS

Prime D+ is my favorite ketone drink from Real Ketones. In comparison to Pruvit Keto OS NAT, Prime D+ has 13 to 13.2 grams of BHB’s per serve. Pruvit has 12.6 grams.

0.4 to 0.6 grams difference really isn’t much, so I feel that these two products are comparable when it comes to the amount of BHB’s.

Some manufacturers break down the different quantities of the BHB salts within their ketone drinks. Neither Real Ketones or Pruvit do this, so I can’t say what the exact quantities of sodium, calcium and magnesium are in the drinks. Real Ketones also offers Potassium BHB as part of their blend, whereas Pruvit do not.

What I like about Prime D+ is it includes C8 MCT Powder, plus Vitamin D and Potassium. To get this at Pruvit, you would need to combine the Keto OS NAT supplement with their new Mito Plex supplement (which includes vitamin D3 and Potassium) and you would then have to add either an MCT oil, capsule or powder to this.

Alternatively, Pruvit Keto OS PRO contains MCT oil, but no vitamin D and much less potassium.

Cost

Real Ketones Prime D+ is far more affordable than Pruvit. Real Ketones costs $59.99 USD for 28-30 servings (depending on flavor). This is an average cost of $2.00 to $2.15 per serving.

Pruvit Keto OS NAT costs $130 USD for a box of 20 servings. This is an average cost of $6.50 per serving.

I’ve excluded shipping from each of these comparisons.

Discounts and Special Offers

Both Pruvit and Real Ketones offer a discount for regular orders.

If you subscribe to regular orders with Real Ketones you get:

  • 25% off your first order and 15% off subsequent orders.
  • Choose from delivery every 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks or 1 month, 2 months and 3 months.

If you subscribe to regular orders with Pruvit you get:

  • No discount on the first order.
  • 22% off your second and subsequent orders using their SmartShip program.
  • There is only one order frequency option – every 30 days.

Flavors

Pruvit definitely has more appeal when it comes to flavor selection, and more choice as well. Here is a complete list of flavors for both Pruvit Keto OS NAT and Real Ketones Prime D+.

Real Ketones FlavorsPruvit Flavors

Pina ColadaSplash
Lemon TwistTru Passion

I have to give credit to Pruvit on their expanse of flavors and the taste as well. Having said that, there’s no flavor from Real Ketones Prime D+ that I couldn’t drink.

I would like to see Real Ketones create some comparable flavors to Pruvit.

Real Ketones Weight Loss D-BHB Blend vs Pruvit Keto OS

Real Ketones D-BHB blend for weight loss comes in two flavors, peach and chocolate. These are not dairy based, so drinking chocolate flavored water does not appeal to me at all. Needless to say, Peach was my flavor choice.

The BHB blend in the Peach flavor is 10.2 grams per serve, and chocolate 10 grams per serve.

In comparison, Pruvit Keto OS NAT has 12.6 grams of BHB’s per serve. Therefore, Pruvit has between 2.4 and 2.6 grams of BHB’s more per serve than Real Ketones Weight Loss drinks.

I don’t understand why the BHB’s are lower in this product. In hindsight, I should have purchased the chocolate as well and tried it with almond milk instead of water. Why? The peach was terrible!

It tasted like a combination of children’s liquid pain relief and cough syrup. I didn’t want an exogenous ketone drink that I needed to mix with milk, then have to include the carbs from the milk in my daily carb count. So, peach was my choice for the convenience of mixing with cold water.

Sadly, I can’t recommend this one. If Real Ketones bring out some other flavors I am more than happy to purchase, but for now I’ll be sticking with Prime D+ or Pruvit flavors instead.

Also, there isn’t really a “weight loss” option with Pruvit to compare these drinks to. I’m also not sure how this is considered a weight loss product? My only theory is that it may help to suppress appetite – less food intake = weight loss.

Real Ketones vs Pruvit Keto OS Black Label

Pruvit Black Label is a combination of the same products in Keto OS NAT with added L-Taurine, L-Leucine, Black Fulvic Acid Powder and Inner Bark of Uncaria Tomentosa. The blend totals 17.3 grams combined of BHB’s and other supplements.

The closest Real Ketones product I could compare this with is Prime D+. Here is a table comparing the vitamins and minerals in both products:

Vitamin B1250mcg100mcg

The 1270 mg of sodium in Pruvit Black Label could be a little controversial, whether you are pro-sodium or against-sodium. I’m not a medical doctor or a scientist, so I can only go on my own research and the advice from Pruvit.

Pruvit have explained that the BHB ketone salts are bound to sodium, because sodium is rapidly absorbed by the body. Pruvit advise that exogenous ketones that are sodium bounds are absorbed into the bloodstream faster, resulting in faster ketosis.

As exogenous ketones also act as a diuretic, the increase of sodium helps to balance salt lost through urine. If you are concerned about the sodium levels, I encourage you to do your own research and make an informed decision.

BHB Blend Comparison

We’re not really comparing apples with apples so to speak here. Real Ketones use a simple blend of MCT powder and beta hydroxybutyrate salts to create their blend.

Pruvit OS Black Label has added herbs such as Inner Bark of Uncaria Tomentosa (Cats Claw) and Black fulvic acid powder.

Healthline reports that fulvic acid is beneficial for immune defences, inflammation and antioxidant enhancement, all of which may improve immunity. This is beneficial for those of us who are usually fit and well and don’t suffer from any chronic disease.

In contrast however, those that may need immune boosting the most cannot drink Keto OS NAT Black Label.

The patented C-MED 100, which is really a name given to the herb Inner Bark of Uncaria Tomentosa, otherwise known as “Cat’s Claw” is contraindicated in autoimmune disorders and diseases.

Keto OS PRO Cost

Pruvit Keto OS Pro is the same cost as Pruvit OS Nat – $135 per pack of 20. This equates to $6.50 per serving.

You can purchase Keto OS Pro in Chocolate Swirl and Orange Dream in a 30 serve container for $165 USD. This equates to $5.50 per serving.

As I mentioned earlier in this post, Real Ketones Prime costs between $2 and $2.15 per serving.

*Banana Cream and Dark Chocolate flavors by Pruvit are both dairy free. They do not contain whey protein isolate. Instead, this is replaced with pumpkin seed extract.

It is noted that these two flavors also have C8 MCT powder. This is not specified for Orange Dream or Chocolate swirl, meaning this could be a blend of C8-C12 MCTs.

Real Ketones Energy Shots vs Pruvit Keto UP

These are both ready to drink ketone mixes. Pruvit Keto UP is more like a can of soda in a 12 ounce serving. The Real Ketones Energy Shot really is a “shot”, at a small 3 ounce serving. Let’s compare the ingredients:

Flavor Choices

Pruvit Keto UP is a newly released product and currently available in 3 flavors:

  • The Big Apple
  • Unicorn Slam
  • Toucan Tango

You’ve got to give it to Pruvit their marketing. There’s not even a description of what Unicorn Slam would taste like, but I’m imaging a sweet fruit tingle style carbonated drink!

Toucan tango I imagine as a tropical flavor and The Big Apple needs no explanation. On further inspection of the ingredients, all flavors contain pomegranate extract. I’m not sure where the flavors are coming from? I haven’t had the opportunity to try Keto UP yet, but will update this post when I have.

The flavor choices for the Energy Shots by Real Ketones are:

  • Bomb Pop
  • Strawberry Lemonade
  • Cherry Limeade
  • 12 Gauge (also Strawberry Lemonade flavored)

I’m waiting on a delivery from Real Ketones and will updates this post with the taste when they arrive. I’m particularly looking forward to Bomb Pop which is a combination of raspberry, cherry and lime and Strawberry Lemonade!

Serving Sizes and Cost

The energy shot by Real Ketones, really is a shot. Each serving is 3 fluid ounces (90ml). You can purchase them in a pack of 6 or 12. Funnily, the 6 pack offers slightly better value than the 12 pack at $3.33 per serve vs $3.50 per serve.

In contrast, KetoUP is available in 12 fluid ounce cans, in packs of 12 or 24. The cost per serve is $8 per can for both the 12 and 24 packs.

New Product for 2021 – Keto OS NAT LITE

Keto OS Nat Lite is a caffeine free introduction to exogenous ketones. Rather than having to purchase a large box of one flavor, like you do with the other Nat flavors, these smaller servings are available in a box of 20 with four flavors. They are:

  • Giddyup Grape
  • Li’l Lemon
  • Orange Sun
  • Strawberry Jamz

As I mentioned they are caffeine free, which is great if you need to limit your caffeine intake, or like me, prefer to have your coffee in the mornings and non caffeinated drinks in the afternoons.

These are also a smaller serving, not as small as the 3oz ketone shots from Real Ketones, in fact, you still mix them with 12 to 16 ounces of water; however, they have less ketones and other herbs and supplements. Here is the breakdown:

The closest comparable Real Ketones product to the Nat Lite is the Keto Energy Shots, which have 3g of BHB’s.

My order of the new Nat Lite exogenous supplements has been placed and I will update this post with how they taste and how efficient they are when they arrive.

Which Exogenous Supplement is Better? Pruvit or Real Ketones?

Flavor: Pruvit

Pruvit hands down wins on their choice of flavors. There are no less than 22 flavors of Pruvit products. In contrast, Real Ketones Prime D+ is available in 4 flavors.

Cost: Real Ketones

At $2 per serve, Pruvit doesn’t come close to being as cost effective as Real Ketones. Pruvit ranges from anywhere between $3.95 per serve to $8 per serve.

Both companies offer discounts for subscription orders.

Ketones: Pruvit Black Label has the highest, Real Ketones Prime D+ has slightly more than Keto OS NAT

Real Ketones have more exogenous ketones in their Prime D+ blend than Pruvit do in their Keto OS NAT blend. Overall however, Pruvit OS Black Label has the highest amount of supplements in their blend.

Other Vitamins and Minerals

This is where is gets a little tricky and is hard to pick a winner. Overall, Real Ketones has added Vitamin D, Vitamin K and much higher levels of Vitamins B6 and Potassium than Pruvit. Having said that, Pruvit has much higher levels of Vitamin B12 than Real Ketones.

If you have a Vitamin B12 deficiency, Pruvit would be the better choice. But if you don’t have a Vitamin B12 deficiency then consuming Pruvit drinks may increase your Vitamin B12 levels above a normal range.

In this circumstance, my advice is to have your blood taken before trying either supplement so you know your levels. Talk to your health practitioner about supplements and let them know.

Pre-Mixed Ketone Supplements: Pruvit

Pruvit KetoUP has overall more exogenous ketones and vitamins and minerals than Real Ketones energy shots. The downside here however, is the price. Keeping that in mind, you are getting 10g of BHB blend, added vitamin C, B12, B6 and a little potassium in a drink that is just 1 gram of net carbs.

Caffeine: Real Ketones

Real Ketones uses caffeine anhydrous, whereas Pruvit uses caffeine hydrous. These are two different forms of caffeine. I’ll explain this further in another post, but in short, caffeine anhydrous is more concentrated and has less water than the hydrous version.

The Final Conclusion

I don’t want to be a fence sitter, but I’m having a hard time picking a clear winner! Here’s my recommendation:

  • Buy Pruvit if you are happy to pay more for your exogenous ketones, need Vitamin B12 supplementation and are looking for a great variety of flavors that actually taste good;
  • Buy Real Ketones if you want to save money on exogenous ketones without sacrificing quality of the product, but are willing to stick with less variety of flavors.
